I had never watched anyone play that game before, but man! Snapping people's necks at urinals, that's just cruel. Lol, I wonder how many guards he killed in that men's restroom until he realized that they just kept respawning. Ah, I love playing video games, but sometimes it's fun just to watch others play. Zach was playing, Jon and Lowell provided running commentary. And other guys kept randomly showing up to go "OH MY GOD, IS THIS METAL GEAR SOLID?! BEST GAME EVER!".

My sleep schedule is becoming more and more reversed. It gets so hard to type at night, which really makes me fear for the essays I've been turning in to my SAGES professor. Hopefully I was at least keeping my head together while typing those, unlike now.

Oh man, kendo tournament is next weekend. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried. Argh. Focus. Don't lean your head back. Stop using your right hand so much. Just chill and try to do things right. Ahh.

My Walking Stick

Remember what I said yesterday about my legs falling off? Multiply that by ten, and that's how I feel today. I feel like one of those old people who just hobbles around with a cane.

I'm remembering that Leon Redbone concert I went to a few years ago for some reason. Sad to hear of Scott Black having a falling-out with him. I guess Redbone has a drinking problem. It's not part of the act, then...it's a shame. It was a really enjoyable concert, just Redbone and Black and Cindy Cashdollar, up in Akron. I can't remember what year it was, though, but I'm sure it's in my old blog entries.

So we're planning possible vacations now, the family and myself. And we're thinking maybe NYC again. We'd like to see Les Paul before he kicks the bucket, and we'd love to see Jon Stewart and/or Stephen Colbert (but my brother's too young to get in...). I hate to say it, because I do love Jon, but if forced to pick, I'd rather go to Stephen's show. (I remember when The Colbert Report premiered, and I hated it. I hated it for taking Stephen away from The Daily Show and This Week In God and his correspondent duties. I thought there was no way he could carry a whole show by himself. How wrong I was.) Besides, I've already seen Jon Stewart live (standup routine in Cleveland in early 2004), but I've never seen Colbert. I also keep hoping to be one of the lucky audience members to get high-fived. That would be so awesome...

Kendo practice today with Nagata(?)-sensei was interesting. The man was a crazy-fast kendoka. I just about died at practice. I'm too aerobically unfit for kendo, I swear. I'll need to start distance running or something. Or doing push-ups.

Fun stuff: Teaching a native Japanese speaker about the finer points of the English words "bullshit" and "ass-backwards". And U.S. holidays.

Of note: Kototsu. I want one. They're amazing. Also: I ate octopus today. Takoyaki. Woohoo. Now I have something to say in Japanese class when the teacher goes "先週の週末、何をしましたか."

In which my legs fall off...

Ouch. Can't walk. Kendo. Ouch. So Tuesday night was the first real practice I went to in, what, a month? Owwww. I am so out of shape.

So, guys...I think I have a real problem with procrastination. Like, a major, major problem. Maybe it isn't procrastination though...maybe it's motivation. It's like I can't even manage to do the things I want to do anymore. I can sit at the computer. I can play piano sometimes. I can listen to music, and can sometimes get motivated enough to go to a concert. Basically I can do really passive stuff, and I can force myself to do homework or read stuff for school (that's where the procrastination bit comes in), but I can't seem to do anything else. What's wrong with me? I'm hoping this is just a weird phase that I'm going through, or maybe it's just a temporary state linked to my nonexistant sleep schedule, because I don't much fancy being so singularly unproductive. This isn't high school. I can't afford to be lazy anymore. I also should stop doing stuff like forgetting to eat or eating stuff (mostly oranges and ramen noodles) for no apparent reason at, like, 3 am...

I looove oranges, though...

I DRINK YOUR MLIKSHAKE! I DRINK IT UP!

So I watched "There Will Be Blood" last night....

I want a milkshake.

In all seriousness though, it's a good movie, well worth watching. Day-Lewis does a great job, and though the film is two-and-a-half hours long, it never feels like it's dragging. The ending must be seen to be believed. Everything leading up to it is just so nutty that words really can't describe it. Just go watch the movie. We were watching a screener's copy(?) at home. (Unlike the copy of "No Country For Old Men", it didn't have fuzzy bars across it, and it actually had credits. And music. Unless No Country really doesn't have a soundtrack...I dunno.) Oh, one last thing...about the soundtrack. Composed by Johnny Greenwood, Radiohead guitarist. Those dischordant strings are really unsettling. Those clashing violin chords made me so profoundly uneasy every time I heard them. I kept calling it "insanity music", because I felt like I was going insane every time I heard it. It really goes along with the action on screen, though.

Sunday, March 09, 2008

Eeew, eeew, eeeew. So Xanga made me log into the "new" homepage when I logged on today...my god, that thing was even uglier than facebook. Where are my entries? Where's my BLOG?! I don't get comments frequently enough on here to merit there being a feed for comments.

Can't I just keep a site as a more-or-less continuous online journal without my efforts being sabotaged by everyone's attempt to mimic facebook (or, in the past, myspace)? Speaking of which, Myspace was the ugliest, stupidest, most worthless site in existence...I hate it. I totally only have a page there so I can friend various people, because I certainly don't use the site's features for anything...if you can even get to the features in amidst all the clutter.

I don't even remember what I was originally going to post about. Probably snow, seeing as it snowed all day yesterday, and most of the day before that. We definitely have well over a foot of snow out there right now, probably closer to two feet. My car is buried. The driveway was buried. I got this weird desire to lie down in the snow yesterday, so I did just that. It looked so soft. There is something to be said for the simple pleasure of just lying down in the snow...although you don't want to do it too long, or you're liable to get buried.

Thursday, March 06, 2008

Hey, I'm playing Tales of Destiny II on PSP. Oh yeah.

I'm also listening to lots of Beirut. Good stuff. Go seek them out. Well, I say "them", but really it's just one guy doing all the stuff by himself, for the most part. It's very Eastern European-flavored. I like it.

I still have "Intervention" stuck in my head from Monday night, though...Arcade Fire is also very good. Too bad we (the state of Ohio) let them down. Win, you came all the way down here to support Obama, and then our state went and voted for Hillary. I am so sorry. I promise you, I had nothing to do with this.

(Lol, Ohio has also disappointed Jeff Tweedy and John Flansburgh with their choice of candidate...I wouldn't be surprised if large segments of the music world have it in for us now. Especially after we voted for Bush in 2004. What the hell Ohio, you can't do anything right...)

Ohioans are stupid. Then again, given how stupid people are in Ohio and Texas, I'm really not suprised that you won. Stupid people, old people, women (goddamn, stupid women...I hate being female right now for fear of being associated with those Hillary sheep). WTF. This isn't supposed to happen.

I will oppose Hillary Clinton every step of the way, because I don't think I can bring myself to vote for her under any condition. As much as I loathe the prospect of another Republican in the White House, and as totally repugnant and hypocritical as John McCain is, I could never vote for Hillary. I can't do it. I just don't like her. She seems like such a slimy character. Besides, her "experience" counts for absoutely zilch. She never did anything useful anyway. Also, she's an opponent of video games. Slimy bastard.

Hey Mr. DJ, I Thought You Said We Had A Deal

So I'm sure everyone's heard that I saw TMBG again on Wednesday. It was AMAZING. They basically played every song I've ever wanted to hear live. I didn't get a setlist or a foam hand, which was disappointing, but I did get a guitar pick. Nice. I don't know whose pick it is...I mean, there's only two people it could've belonged to though. (Or maybe three...does Danny use a pick on any numbers? He might.)

This show had better be released on the download site, or I will throw a shit-fit. The setlist was so good, the band was just in such top form. I wish I didn't have such an awful time trying to get a taxi. If only I had been able to get there earlier, maybe I would've gotten a better view. And a foam hand.

VIDEOS! WATCH THEM! THEY'RE ON MY YOUTUBE ACCOUNT.

Tuesday, February 26, 2008

I'm so tired. I hope I'm not sick. This wouldn't be such a problem if I didn't have such a busy week this week. I need to take a break so badly...

But I have to take a shower first. Ugh, my head hurts so much. How the hell is my roommate so perky? I hate being around people like that, especially when I've gotten so little sleep and have so much work to do.

TMBG on Wednesday at the Beachland Ballroom. Anyone want to come with me? Please. I need a ride like whoa, because I don't have a car up here.
